Brian Connolly has been teaching at Glengormley School of Traditional Music for a number of years.
As a prolific teacher, he has also taught at The Andersonstown Traditional and Contemporary Music School, St Patrick’s Parish Centre, Lisburn, The Davey Music School, The Loch Lao Traditional Music Society, The Mid Ulster School of Music and also provides private tuition for exam preparation for LCM Traditional Music examinations, as well as entering the Fleadh competitions.
He has participated in teaching and performance workshops at various festivals including Common Ground On The Hill in Maryland, USA, Common Ground Scotland and The Orkney Tradfest.
Brian has also taken zoom classes for music schools in Ireland, as well as festivals in Scotland, the USA and Germany.
Brian also tours with the Belfast based Irish Traditional Music Band Craobh Rua and have given concert and festival performances in the USA, Canada, Australia, Germany, Austria, Italy, Holland, Switzerland, Brittany, Asturias, Belgium, Poland, Slovenia, Denmark, Norway, Bulgaria, England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.
He has recorded 6 CDs with Craobh Rua and appeared on numerous compilation CDs.
He was the producer on “The Humours of Piping” an Uilleann Piping CD released by KRL Records, Scotland. Recorded a CD and performed with musicians from the USA and Scotland in Umoja Gaelica.
Brian has also released a banjo tutor book “Play Tunes on the Irish Tenor Banjo (Introductory Repertoire)” with accompanying CDs.
He has appeared and performed on BBC radio and TV, TG4, RTE, media broadcast companies in Europe, The USA, Canada and Australia and have had articles, reviews and given interviews, in various, newspapers, magazines and other publications both here and abroad.
