Katie McAlea is a Tin Whistle player from a well known Irish traditional music family.

 

Her Aunt, Uncle and Mother have been playing in the Irish music scene from the middle 1980s. She has from a very early age, grown up in the company of some of Belfast's premier traditional musicians and been exposed to their repertoire and regional style.  

 

Currently working as a Traditional Irish Music peripatetic in the local Primary school system in the greater Belfast area, she is also involved as a tutor in the new and innovative programne 'Tunes Translated' facilitated by Conway Mill and the Belfast City Council.
