We are delighted to announce a special day of Fiddle & Violin Masterclasses taking place on Saturday 28th March at Edmund Rice College, Belfast, from 10:30am – 2:00pm.

This exciting event brings together two outstanding masterclass opportunities for young musicians, led by some of the most respected performers and educators in traditional music.



🎻 The Kane Sisters – Fiddle Masterclass

For Intermediate & Advanced Players

Renowned for their dynamic performances and deep understanding of traditional Irish music, The Kane Sisters will deliver an intensive fiddle masterclass focusing on:

  • Advanced bowing techniques & ornamentation

  • Stylistic refinement & rhythmic precision

  • Performance insight for serious players

This session is ideal for committed students looking to elevate their technical skill and musical expression.

Cost: £20 per child(Please bring a packed lunch.)


🎻 Johnny Murphy – Classical Violin into Traditional Style

Free of Charge

In this special session, Johnny Murphy explores the journey from classical violin training into authentic traditional performance style. Topics include:

  • Translating classical technique into traditional playing

  • Bow articulation, phrasing & stylistic nuance

  • Developing confident and authentic traditional expression

This is a fantastic opportunity for violinists curious about expanding into traditional repertoire.
